Oil Dry vs water dry

Dry skin lacks OIL. Dehydrated skin lacks WATER. Dehydration is a skin condition that can happen to anyone, and dry skin is a specific skin type that you’re born with. Dry skin (π’π’Šπ’ π’…π’“π’š) is often categorized by being rough, cracked, itchy, and flaky. People with dry skin are usually genetically predisposed to it, which means their bodies produce less moisture in the form of sebum. Like a desert, dehydrated skin (π’˜π’‚π’•π’†π’“ π’…π’“π’š) has been depleted of water. Dehydrated skin is characterized by tightness, dullness, and fine lines. Because the body is always in a sate of homeostasis, people with dehydrated skin makes up for missing water by producing more oil which can lead to combination skin that shows signs of being both dry (rough patches) and oily (on the T-zone).
